Elderly Grandfather Sees Offspring's Mitvzahs
by David Yisraeli

An elderly Jew who has been a regular worshiper at the Chabad House of Flatbush celebrated his 90th birthday with friends and relatives at the Chabad House.

Shliach Rabbi Zalman Liberow delivered words of inspiration in honor of the senior's milestone. Having returned to Judaism some years ago, the man's wish is to see some of his offspring embrace the Torah way one day.

One of his grandsons does have some acquaintance with Rabbi Chanoch Chaskind and the Chabad House. He introduced the rabbis to his cousin who is a firstborn and has never been Halachicly 'redeemed' through the Pidyon Haben ceremony. Upon learning of this religious rite, the cousin brought his own son into the equation, a great-grandson of the birthday man.

"He's also a firstborn and should also be redeemed", the 40-year-old man said.

And so it happened. While celebrating his 90th birthday, the grandfather merited to witness the Pidyon Haben of his grandson and his 19-year-old great-grandson.

The four generations posed for a photo with their spiritual leaders.
