Flatbush Shluchim Do Bigger This Year

Chabad of Flatbush, under the direction of Rabbi Shneur Zalman Liberow hosted a number of Chanukah parties and events, impressing the entire community of Flatbush.

With the help of Dr. Sholom Pape, over 5,000 copies of the Moshiach Times were distributed to homes in the Flatbush area.

Each night there were three public Menorah lighting ceremonies at different locations on Kings Highway, where the Menorah's remained visible throughout the holiday.

Each lighting was accompanied with a full fledged event, food, singing and dancing with help from students at the Central Lubavitcher Yeshiva in 770.

On Sunday, the Chabad center hosted a children's carnival, at which many different fun games were played, including building your own Menorah, preparing a donut an the Dreidel races.

Event organizer Rabbi & Mrs. Chaskind told us that many people attended the event and enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

Rabbi Zalman Friedman conducted a workshop, showing the children how olive oil is made.

At the event, Rabbi Liberow emphasized to the children and their parents, the necessity to publicize the miracles that happen to us. "Doing so," he said, "will help hasten the coming of Moshiach."

After four hours of playing, carnival-goers joined in the public Menorah lighting at the nearest Menorah on Kings Highway.

In the evening, children relaxed to be entertained by the world renowned puppeteers of the Small Wonder Puppet Theater who brought the story of Chanukah to life.

On Wednesday, Mrs. Miriam Swerdlow delivered her weekly lecture with a special Chanukah twist.

To end off the holiday, the Chabad House organized with the help of Reb Yossel Strausberg a Menorah parade with bikes instead of cars.
